Düsseldorf was one of the most important places in the life of the Romantic composer Robert Schumann.
Together with his wife, the renowned pianist Clara Schumann, he lived in Düsseldorf for several years, serving as the city's Music Director.
It was here that Schumann composed his final major works, with nearly one third of his entire compositional output published during his time in Düsseldorf.
